Plant Leaf Anatomy
The lower side of the plant leaf bears epidermis interrupted by stomata - specilized "holes" through which air enters the leaf. CO2 in the air diffuses through the morre loosely arranged spongy mesophyl to the above lying palidasade mesophyll. In mesophyll most of the photosynthesis occurs. On the top leaf is covered by the cuticle, which reduces the water evaporation and protects the leaf.
